UniBuild
Procurement platform developed at Motherson to digitize and streamline the sourcing process for custom parts, connecting manufacturers and suppliers.

Overview
Client: UniBuild
Industry: Supply Chain, Automotive
Unibuild was built to digitize and streamline the complex procurement process in the supply chain industry. Traditionally, sourcing high-quality components required multiple manual steps, leading to delays and inefficiencies. The platform introduced an end-to-end digital workflow — automating quote requests, supplier shortlisting, and approval processes — making procurement faster, more transparent, and scalable.
My Role
As a Strategic Product Designer, I:
Designed and refined key workflows such as quote management and audit processes, ensuring they integrated seamlessly into the platform.
Created a starter design system to unify the interface and improve usability.
Collaborated with cross-functional teams to align complex stakeholder needs into simple, trackable experiences.
Challenges
Design Inconsistency: Multiple designers had led to a fragmented, inconsistent UI.
Manual & Fragmented Workflows: Quote management was slow, relying on spreadsheets, emails, and manual approvals.
Lack of Transparency: No central system to track quote progress, causing bottlenecks and missed accountability.
Supplier Validation Needs: Orders had to pass through auditor assessments, but the process lacked visibility and clear role coordination across personas.
Solutions
Design System: Built a unified system to ensure consistency across the product.
Structured Workflows: Designed automated flows for supplier shortlisting, quote evaluation, and approval tracking.
Audit Flow: Introduced a transparent auditor validation flow, looping in suppliers, auditors, and admins seamlessly.
Phased Rollout: Delivered improvements in stages — starting with approval dashboards, then Excel parsing, and finally a dynamic quote builder — ensuring adoption without disruption.
Impact
Turnaround Time Reduced: Quote approval cycles dropped from weeks to days.
Transparency Achieved: Centralized dashboards improved visibility, accountability, and reduced follow-ups.
Smooth Adoption: Incremental rollout aligned with user habits, ensuring minimal resistance and maximum adoption.
Key Learnings
Start with visibility and structure before aiming for full automation.
Incremental rollouts with continuous feedback drive smoother adoption.
Designing for adoption, not just automation, is critical in complex enterprise workflows.
I have a detailed account of how I takled the quoting flow in my Medium article here.
